The Classical Greek Dance Association offers a comprehensive examination syllabus, designed to meet the needs of dancers from the age of 5 and up!

These examinations offer a range of learning opportunities and enables participants to enjoy physical expression as well as developing intellectual sensibilities. Classical Greek Dance develops an understanding of the shaping of movement into artistic forms of expression.

All exams are concerned with the progressive mastery of technique within the context of safe dance practice. Also, exams provide an assesment scheme for dance which gives the basis for the measurement of the individual candidate's progress and development. There are six practical Greaded Examinations, numbered 1-6 (Grade 6 representing the highest level of attainment.)

Following on from the Graded Examinations, candidates may wish to progress to the Vocational Graded Examinations as preparation for employment as a professional dancer or as a preparation for dance teaching qualifications. Vocational Graded Examinations require a greater level of commitment, high standards of technique and a sound knoweledge and understanding of the Classical Greek technique. A greater degree of personal interpretation is encouraged and the candidate is expected to show the potential to communicate effectively with an audience.

For those interested in qualifying to teach the Classical Greek technique, we also offer both the Foundation in Dance Instruction (FDI) and Certificate in Dance Education (CDE).

All of our examinations are accredited by the QCA on the National Qualifications Framework for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

All our examinations are administered by our awarding body, the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). For further information about the examinations on offer please visit the website by clicking below:
